White tiger attack: Guard at Delhi zoo

The horrific story of Delhi zoo where a white tiger mauled a man who reportedly jumped into the enclosure has another angle to it now. Since the incident took place, people have been guessing about the intention of the white tiger when it was staring at the man for about 15 minutes (as seen in the video). Some people claimed that the tiger attacked the man because of the onlookers who pelted stones at it. But after much speculation as to what happened, the guard of the zoo has now come up with some unknown truth about the incident

After the incident, the Delhi police have been investigating the case. The police asked the zoo officials as to why they did not utilise the tranquilizer gun to save the man, as the big cat did not attack immediately.
The guard who was present at the time revealed the reason why the zoo officials could not tranquilize the tiger. The guard named Praveen told the police that the tranquilizer injection and gun were kept in the office of the doctor appointed to give first aid in the zoo. Unfortunately, the doctor wasn’t present on the day and that is why the zoo officials did not use the gun to save the man.

Before this revelation by the guard, a message was doing the rounds on social media that claimed that the forensic report of the incident says the tiger was trying to save that man from the stones thrown by onlookers and tried to keep him far from the public, just as a tigress catches its cub by the neck to save it from threat. However, no forensic report had been issued.
But now the guard’s revelation has given the white tiger story a new twist.



Forestry in India



Forestry in India is a significant rural industry and a major environmental resource. India is one of the ten most forest-rich countries of the world along with the Russian Federation, Brazil, Canada, United States of America, China, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Australia, Indonesia and Sudan. Together, India and these countries account for 67 percent of total forest area of the world. India's forest cover grew at 0.22% annually over 1990-2000, and has grown at the rate of 0.46% per year over 2000-2010, after decades where forest degradati was a matter of serious concern.
As of 2010, the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations estimates India's forest cover to be about 68 million hectares, or 24% of the country's area. The 2013 Forest Survey of India states its forest cover increased to 69.8 million hectares by 2012, per satellite measurements; this represents an increase of 5,871 square kilometers of forest cover in 2 years. However, the gains were primarily in northern, central and southern Indian states, while northeastern states witnessed a net loss in forest cover over 2010 to 2012.
In 2002, forestry industry contributed 1.7% to India's GDP. In 2010, the contribution to GDP dropped to 0.9%, largely because of rapid growth of the economy in other sectors and the government's decision to reform and reduce import tariffs to let imports satisfy the growing Indian demand for wood products. India produces a range of processed forest (wood and non-wood) products ranging from wood panel products and wood pulp to make bronze, rattazikistan ware and pern resin. India's paper industry produces over 3,000 metric tonnes annually from more than 400 mills.[4] The furniture and craft industry is another consumer of wood. India's wood-based processing industries consumed about 30 million cubic metres of industrial wood in 2002.[4] India annually consumes an additional 270 million tonnes of fuelwood, 280 million tonnes of fodder, and about 12 million cubic meter of forest products - valued at about 27500 crore (US$4.4 billion) a year.

India is the world's largest consumer of fuel-wood.[4] India's consumption of fuel-wood is about five times higher than what can be sustainably removed from forests.[4] However, a large percentage of this fuel-wood is grown as biomass remaining from agriculture, and is managed outside forests. Fuel-wood meets about 40% of the energy needs of the country.[4] Around 80% of rural people and 48% of urban people use fuel-wood.[4] Unless India makes major, rapid and sustained effort to expand electricity generation and power plants, the rural and urban poor in India will continue to meet their energy needs through unsustainable destruction of forests and fuel wood consumption. India's dependence on fuel-wood and forestry products as a primary energy source is not only environmentally unsustainable, it is a primary cause of India's near-permanent haze and air pollution.

How to Make a Homemade Mosquito Killer



Mosquitoes are not only annoying pests; they also have been known to spread diseases, especially West Nile virus. Mosquitoes are initially attracted to humans because people emit carbon dioxide when they exhale. Carbon dioxide is a mosquito attractant; most mosquito traps have a carbon dioxide-emitting mechanism. Human scents, such as sweat and the smell of your breath, also attract mosquitoes. Mosquito repellents and candles can be used to keep the bugs away, but they do not kill the mosquito. Instead of spraying your body with chemicals, create your own homemade mosquito trap that will eventually kill these flying pests.

Step 1:
Make sure the soda bottle is empty and the inside is clean. Cut the top of the bottle about 3 inches down from the top. This should be where the top of the bottle stops curving and becomes straight. Do not throw away the bottle top.
Step 2:
Mix the sugar and water together in the bottom of the bottle until the sugar is completely dissolved. Add the yeast and mix by sloshing the liquid around in the bottom of the bottle. When mixed with the water and sugar, the yeast will emit carbon dioxide
Step 3:
Remove the cap from the bottle top and discard. Place the bottle top upside-down over the cut-open end of the bottle so that the screw top is on the inside of the bottle. Tape the bottle top in place. When a mosquito enters the bottle, it will not be able to get back out due to the placement of the hole in the bottle top.
Step 4:
Wrap the black construction paper around the soda bottle and tape into place. Put the mosquito trap in an area out of direct sunlight. It may take several weeks to notice a difference in the mosquito population around your home. Replace the water, sugar and yeast mixture as necessary

















Nepal earthquake 2015

The April 2015

Nepal earthquake (also known as the Gorkha earthquake)[7][8] killed more than 8,000 people and injured more than 19,000. It occurred at on 25 April, with a magnitude of 7.8Mw[1] or 8.1Ms[2] and a maximum Mercalli Intensity of VIII (Severe). Its epicenter was the village of Barpak, Gorkha district, and its hypocenter was at a depth of approximately 15 km (9.3 mi).[1] It was the worst natural disaster to strike Nepal since the 1934 Nepal–Bihar earthquake.[9][10][11]
The earthquake triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest, killing at least 19,[12] making it the deadliest day on the mountain in history.[13] It triggered another huge avalanche in the Langtang valley, where 250 people were reported missing.[14][15]
Hundreds of thousands of people were made homeless with entire villages flattened,[14][16][17] across many districts of the country. Centuries-old buildings were destroyed at UNESCO World Heritage sites in the Kathmandu Valley, including some at the Kathmandu Durbar Square, the Patan Durbar Squar, the Bhaktapur Durbar Square, the Changu Narayan Temple and the Swayambhunath Stupa. Geophysicists and other experts had warned for decades that Nepal was vulnerable to a deadly earthquake, particularly because of its geology, urbanization, and architecture.[18][19]
Continued aftershocks occurred throughout Nepal within 15–20 minute intervals, with one shock reaching a magnitude of 6.7 on 26 April at NST.[4] The country also had a continued risk of landslides.[20]
A major aftershock occurred on 12 May 2015 at with a moment magnitude (Mw) of 7.3.[21] The epicenter was near the Chinese border between the capital of Kathmandu and Mt. Everest.[22] More than 200 people were killed and more than 2,500 were injured by this aftershock.[23]

Conjoined twins are identical twins[1] joined in utero. A rare phenomenon, the occurrence is estimated to range from 1 in 49,000 births to 1 in 189,000 births, with a somewhat higher incidence in Southwest Asia, Africa and Brazil.[2] Approximately half are stillborn, and a smaller fraction of pairs born alive have abnormalities incompatible with life. The condition is more frequently found among females, with a ratio of 3:1.[2]


Two contradicting theories exist to explain the origins of conjoined twins. The older theory is fission, in which the fertilized egg splits partially. The second and more generally accepted theory is fusion, in which a fertilized egg completely separates, but stem cells (which search for similar cells) find like-stem cells on the other twin and fuse the twins together. Conjoined twins share a single common chorion, placenta, and amniotic sac, although these characteristics are not exclusive to conjoined twins as there are some monozygotic but non-conjoined twins that also share these structures in utero.[3]
The most famous pair of conjoined twins was Chang and Eng Bunker (Thai:  In-Chan) (1811–1874), Thai brothers born in Siam, now Thailand. They travelled with P.T. Barnum's circus for many years and were labeled as the Siamese Twins. Chang and Eng were joined by a band of flesh, cartilage, and their fused livers at the torso. In modern times, they could have been easily separated.[4] Due to the brothers' fame and the rarity of the condition, the term "Siamese twins" came to be used as a synonym for conjoined twins.
